H&M x The DO – A Ten Years Experiment

The exhibition A Ten Year Experiment is a showcase for all the projects that have resulted from H&M's collaboration with the social impact business The DO. The projects on display focus on social and environmental ideas developed for implementation into H&M's operations. Together with Veronika Mutalova, Nathalie Opris curated and designed the exhibition, which was presented in H&M's beyond space next to Berlin's Monbijoupark and accompanied by a series of workshops where more meaningful ideas were developed.

Designed as an accelerator to promote change in corporate policy from within, the exhibition's narrative poses questions rather than making statements, in order to provide a vivid backdrop for workshops that could take place during the show’s display. By offering an interactive flow through the exhibition, workshop participants and visitors are invited to explore, pause and become content creators themselves. By inviting young talents and entrepreneurs, as well as H&M employees, the show’s aim was to engage visitors in a dialogue about the future of the fashion business. The complex challenges facing the fashion industry are far from being solved, highlighting the need for further initiatives of this kind.
The exhibition design promotes sustainability by repurposing materials commonly used in fashion retail, such as plastic boxes for logistics and storage or metal shelving. After the exhibition, these were returned to the cycle at H&M stores in Berlin. This approach minimized waste, reduced environmental impact, and created a cohesive design reflecting the exhibition's theme.
